How to Use the FAA AME Locator

  1. Open the FAA locator

Use the button above to go to the FAA's official AME Locator tool on faa.gov.

  2. Enter your location

Search by ZIP code, city, or state — for example, your home ZIP or "Des Moines, IA."

  3. Filter by what you need

You can narrow results by distance and by the services an examiner offers, then review their contact details.

  4. Call to confirm & schedule

Phone the AME's office to confirm they offer the class of medical you need (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and book your appointment.

Before your appointment

Complete the FAA's MedXPress online application first and bring your confirmation number, a photo ID, and your corrective lenses if you wear them. New to all of this? Read our full guide to FAA medical certificates & AMEs.
